Booting from Boot Floppy |
In the first step you were shown how to create a Boot Floppy. Now in this one we show how to use it to boot from a system on which you plan to install windows.Firs make sure your computer is set to Boot from a Floppy. To verify this just put the Boot Floppy in your floppy disk and switch on the system. If its succesfully booting you will get the following screen in DOS mode. |

If this is not the case then you need to proceed as follows. First reset the machine and enter the BIOS by pressing DEL on the keyboard ( On some machines we will have to press F2 to enter the BIOS ). Once inside the bios search for booting option and set Floppy as the first booting device ( use common sense here as diffrent types of BIOS have different layout ). Make sure the built in ANTIVIRUS is set to OFF in the BIOS else it wont allow windows to be installed on the machine. Now proceed with booting from floppy by putting BOOT FLOPPY in the floppy drive and resetting the machine. Now when you reboot from floppy you will get the prompt some what like the one shown above. |
